The Farmington Canal Heritage Trail is an 81.2 mile trail that took its place after the closure of the railway line. Bradley Mountain is also served by the Blue Blazed Metacomet Trail, which follows the rim of the crater from Connecticut to Meriden and leads to other peaks nearby. Hikers can follow the lakeside on the relatively gentle red trail or try the orange trail that takes you to the dramatic summit of Bradley Mountain. The narrow, linear MetAComet Ridge cuts through the east side of Plainville, and there is a following Metacometric Trail and the Rattlesnake Mountain in Farmington that you can visit along the way.

These may not seem like epic heights, but the prominence of Metacomet Ridge makes sure that the panorama of the hiker compensates for the effort. Inspired natural landscapes and views stretching for miles from the west, with views of rocks to the top of Bradley Mountain and beyond.
