About Plainview, Texas

Located in the heart of West Texas, Plainview is home to about 22,000 residents and offers many of the amenities found in larger cities while maintaining a small town vibe.  Plainview was incorporated in 1907 after the Pecos and Northern Texas Railway reached town and brought agricultural and industrial growth. Plainview connects several Texas metropolitans including Amarillo and Lubbock.

Residents and visitors enjoy the many entertainment, cultural, business, and educational opportunities in Plainview including a symphony and concert hall. There are more than 130 civic clubs in Plainview that provide community outreach opportunities. Some of the cultural offerings of the city include the historic downtown area which is home to the antique district, an annual cattle drive and the Fair Theatre—a renovated 400 seat 1920's movie theater.

Other area attractions include museums, art galleries, libraries, country clubs and radio stations. For the kids, the Youth Invasion Skatepark features a nine-foot skate pipe, a wall ramp, concession stand and a board repair area. Then, Mr. D’s Entertainment offers family-oriented entertainment with miniature golf, arcade games and more.
